Drill Pipe (API 5DP)
Drill Pipe (API 5DP) is a steel pipe made with no weld seam. It sits in the drill string. From there it sends rotational torque down to the drill bit and keeps drilling fluid moving through the wellbore. The pipe is built to API Spec 5DP / ISO 11961. High pressure inside and out, torsional load, and axial tension are all normal work for it. Tianjin Youcheng Technology Co., Ltd. keeps about 200 tons in stock. Steel distribution and export have been this company's trade for 12 years. Oilfield contractors and drilling operators around the world are the buyers it serves.

What makes up the main body of a rotary drill string is drill pipe. It ties the surface drive system to the drill bit. Drilling fluid then gets one channel that stays open the whole way, so circulation keeps running.
Every pipe has a steel body with no weld seam, plus two tool joints. A tool joint is friction-welded onto each end. Those ends then go through an upset process. At the weld zone the wall gets thicker. That leaves the joint area stronger than the pipe body on its own.
Three upset configurations are available:

Grade E75 carries a yield strength of 75,000 psi. It also bends more before it gives out. Vertical wells of medium depth are where it fits best. Down there, flexibility counts for more than holding the heaviest load.
Torque and tension both climb sharply once a well reaches out sideways. That is why Grade X95 and G105 get picked so often for extended-reach and deviated wells. Both sit in the middle of the range.
Grade S135 hits a yield strength of 135,000 psi. Deep and ultra-deep wells call for the most tension capacity and the most resistance to twisting. This grade was built for that job.
The pipe body gets made by hot-rolled seamless forming. Quenching and tempering come next. Tensile tests and Charpy V-notch impact tests then check the mechanical properties. Each heat batch goes through this testing. That proves the pipe meets API requirements.
Phosphorus and sulfur are kept low in the chemical composition. That lowers the risk of embrittlement. Cold-weather operations need this. So do high-cycle fatigue environments.
All API threads are precision-machined to ensure reliable sealing and field connection without on-site rework.
For H2S sour service environments, pipes are produced with restricted hardness — typically HRC 22 max — to prevent sulfide stress cracking in reservoirs containing hydrogen sulfide.
Internal Plastic Coating (IPC) is available as an option to reduce friction losses and improve corrosion resistance in the Drill Pipe (API 5DP) pipe bore.
Every shipment goes through a multi-step inspection protocol. The steps line up with API Spec 5DP requirements:
Each heat batch gets its own Mill Test Certificate (MTC, EN10204-3.1). From the raw material right through to the finished pipe, you can trace it all. Third-party inspection costs extra. Ask for it if your project requires one.

Deepwater Offshore Drilling: Out in deep water, the drill string carries its own weight and the bottom hole assembly too. Wave action keeps loading it in cycles. Pipe made from high grades and put together by friction welding is built to take that combined stress.
Extended Reach Drilling (ERD): High-angle and horizontal wells call for a lot of torque capacity. Turning long pipe strings against wellbore friction takes serious force. G105 and S135 grades are made for those torsional demands.
Sour Service (H2S) Environments: In H2S-rich reservoirs, ordinary pipe tends to crack from hydrogen. Sour-service drill pipe keeps chemistry controlled and hardness restricted. That is what makes safe operation possible in these conditions.
Geological Exploration and Water Wells: Oil and gas work is not the only use here. This OD range starts at 60.3 mm and goes up, so it also fits smaller exploration jobs and water well drilling.
Secondary processing can be completed before shipment, including:
Some projects need their own national standard. Others call for a connection type such as Drill Pipe (API 5DP) built for a certain rig, or dimensions that are not standard. OEM and ODM customization can be done for all of them.

Q: How do Grade E75 and Grade S135 mainly differ?
A: Grade E75 gives you a yield strength of 75,000 psi. It also has more ductility. That makes it a good fit for medium-depth wells. S135 goes up to 135,000 psi. It is meant for deep and ultra-deep wells. Those wells need maximum tension and torque at the same time.
Q: Why is IEU upset commonly preferred in modern drilling operations?
A: IEU adds wall thickness on the inside and on the outside. This extra metal sits at the weld zone. There the pipe body meets the tool joint. Stress builds up less, so the joint holds up better. Fatigue resistance also goes up at the heat-affected zone. That matters most during high-cycle drilling.
Q: Is this drill pipe built to handle H2S sour service environments?
A: Sure. Even so, the pipe has to be made to sour-service grade. Hardness must stay capped, usually HRC 22 max. That keeps sulfide stress cracking from starting in reservoirs that hold H2S.
Q: What brings on a washout in drill pipe, and what stops it?
A: Often it starts as a fatigue crack. That crack works its way through the pipe wall. Drilling mud at high pressure then eats away at the opening and makes the hole bigger. To catch cracks like these before they turn into a failure, full-body ultrasonic testing (UT) is the usual method.
Q: What documentation comes with each shipment?
A: Every shipment comes with a Mill Test Certificate (MTC, EN10204-3.1). One certificate is issued per heat batch. It covers chemical composition, mechanical test results, and heat treatment records. Third-party inspection certificates can be added for an extra fee.
Q: What customization options are available?
A: Cutting to length is one option. Thread machining (NC, IF, FH) is another. We also do beveling. Internal and external cleaning can be included. Anti-rust oil treatment is available. Custom painting is offered as well. OEM and ODM services exist to meet standards for a specific project or country.
