Hot Rolled Carbon Coil (HRC)
Hot Rolled Carbon Coil (HRC) comes from Tianjin Youcheng Technology. We make it at temperatures above 927°C. The result is a flat-rolled steel product with yield strength between 235 and 355 MPa. Thickness runs from 1.5 mm to 20 mm, and width from 1000 mm to 1800 mm. Grades Q235B, Q355B, S235JR, and A36 are all covered. We have 12 years in steel distribution and export. Around 200 tons sit in stock, and production takes 7 to 10 days. That means steady supply for structural work, machinery, and shipbuilding projects. A Mill Test Certificate (MTC) goes out with every coil.

To make hot rolled carbon steel coil, steel slabs get rolled at temperatures above 927°C. That point sits above the steel's recrystallization temperature. At such heat the steel is soft enough to roll into flat sheets. The sheets are then coiled up for storage and transport.
What you end up with is a material that has a black mill scale surface, solid mechanical properties, and good weldability. Downstream processes use it a lot as feedstock. Among them are cold rolling, pipe manufacturing, structural plate cutting, and narrow strip production.
Compared to cold-rolled coil, hot rolled coil costs less and performs well in applications where surface finish precision is secondary to strength and load-bearing capacity.

| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Material Grade | Q235B, Q355B, S235JR, A36 |
| Thickness | 1.5 mm – 20 mm |
| Width | 1000 mm – 1800 mm |
| Surface Finish | Black hot rolled mill scale |
| Process | Hot rolling |
| Standards | GB/T 709, ASTM A1011 |
| Certificate | Mill Test Certificate (MTC) |
| Processing | Leveling, slitting, cutting to plate |
| Package | Export seaworthy packing |
Each grade serves a specific structural requirement. Here is a quick comparison:
| Grade | Yield Strength (Min) | Tensile Strength | Key Characteristic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q235B | 235 MPa | 370–500 MPa | General structural use, good weldability |
| Q355B | 355 MPa | 470–630 MPa | Higher load, heavy structure |
| S235JR | 235 MPa | 360–510 MPa | EN 10025 standard, EU projects |
| A36 | 250 MPa | 400–550 MPa | ASTM standard, US/international projects |
We hold the chemistry in check. Carbon, Manganese, Phosphorus and Sulfur all stay within range, so the steel meets GB/T 709 and ASTM A1011. Q235B and S235JR carry less carbon. That makes them a good fit for welded structures, with no pre-heating needed.

Standard coil format is not the only option. The following processing services are available before shipment:
When material arrives already processed, your line has fewer handling steps to do.

Hot Rolled Carbon Coil in the 1.5 mm–20 mm thickness range, Hot Rolled Carbon Coil (HRC), covers both medium plate and heavy plate production needs:
This product is used across three major B2B sectors where structural performance matters.
Steel Structure & Construction
Factory building frames call for leveled plates. Warehouse structures and bridge decking need them too. Column base plates are another common use. Heavy static and dynamic loads are no problem for the 355 MPa grades.
Machinery & Heavy Equipment
Slit strips and cut plates are used for machinery bases, equipment frames, and heavy-duty chassis. Thickness tolerance stays steady across the 1000–1800 mm width range. That supports precision fabrication.
Shipbuilding & Pipe Manufacturing
Direct supply from stock supports pipe blank production for ERW and SSAW pipe mills, as well as ship hull plate fabrication. Q235B and A36 are standard grades for these applications.
Before any coil leaves, it goes through a Hot Rolled Carbon Coil (HRC) factory check:

Q: What makes this productdifferent from Cold Rolled Coil (CRC)?
A: Steel gets pushed through temperatures higher than 927°C to make HRC. Out comes a surface that is black and rougher. CRC starts life as HRC. Then it goes through a second round of working at room temperature. Tighter tolerances come from that step, and so does a smoother finish. Between the two, HRC costs less. Structural jobs are where it fits, since the surface look rarely matters there.
Q: How should hot rolled coil be stored so it does not oxidize?
A: Put it somewhere dry with good airflow, and keep moisture away. Will it sit there a long time? Then Pickled and Oiled (P&O) coil is the better pick. Atmospheric corrosion on the surface drops with it.
Q: What does carbon content do to weldability?
A: Grades with less carbon, Q235B and S235JR for example, weld with no pre-heating when the structural conditions are standard. Steels that carry more carbon often need pre-heating. Post-weld heat treatment may be needed too. Both steps cut the chance of cracking at the weld zone.
Q: What is mill scale, and does it have to come off?
A: Mill scale is a layer of iron oxide that forms when steel is hot rolled. Pickling strips it off. That step comes before paint or coating. Cold rolling also needs it gone. On bare structural steel, the scale gives temporary surface protection. It shields the surface during storage and transit.
Q: Can we hire you for custom cutting and processing jobs?
A: Yes. Leveling, slitting, and cutting to fixed plate lengths are available. Dimensions can be specified and material will be processed accordingly before shipment.
