Product Description

Carbon Steel Unequal Angle Bar for Structural Engineering — Flexible Section Solutions

Youcheng Technology Co., Ltd.'s Carbon Steel Unequal Angle Bar is hot-rolled from steel billets and comes in leg sizes ranging from 40x25mm to 200x125mm, thicknesses ranging from 4mm to 18mm, and lengths of 6m or 12m, with custom cutting available. It can be used for general to medium-heavy structural purposes in grades Q235B and Q355B. With a production lead time of 7–10 days and a stock of about 200 tonnes, we can reliably ship to markets around the world. This is backed up by Mill Test Certificates given according to EN 10204-3.1.

What Is This Product?

One leg of This product is wider than the other, making it look like an L. Instead of equal angle bars, this asymmetric cross-section gives you different section moduli along each axis. This is helpful when you need more load resistance in one way than the other without adding more material to the whole thing.

Hot rolling is used to make the profile: steel block → hot rolling → straightening → end cutting. The completed bar has a black hot-rolled mill surface and its length is the same length and width. Its mechanical properties stay the same along its length.

Material Grades & Key Properties

We supply two standard carbon steel grades:

Grade Yield Strength Tensile Strength Main Use
Q235B ≥ 235 MPa 370–500 MPa General structural projects
Q355B ≥ 355 MPa 470–630 MPa Medium-heavy structural projects

Both grades have a chemical composition centered on carbon (0.15%–0.25%) and manganese (0.30%–1.60%), with controlled silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur levels. This composition supports:

  • High weldability: compatible with SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes; Q235B does not require preheating under standard conditions.
  • Bolted connection suitability: the flat leg surfaces accept standard bolt-hole drilling without additional preparation.
  • Good formability: the hot-rolled structure supports on-site fitting adjustments.

Application Scenarios

This profile's asymmetric leg design makes it good for projects that need a non-symmetric cross-section because of limited room or directional load needs.

Building with a steel frame

Used as columns, braces, and other secondary structural members. The longer leg supports weight up and down, and the shorter leg gives you places to attach things to the side.

Towers for communication and power transmission

In places with a lot of wind, bracing members with uneven angles are used where stress changes direction. The shape of Carbon Steel Unequal Angle Bar makes it easy to place bolt holes and keeps the structure from buckleing when eccentric loads are applied.

Building ships and marine engineering

Used as frame ribs inside of hull walls. The longer leg makes the structure stiffer in the vertical direction, and the shorter leg welds to the hull plate without getting in the way of internal systems or access routes.

Civil Infrastructure and Bridge Trusses

Used as cross-bracing to support loads on the sides. With certain leg ratios, the profile can fit into small gaps in structures where equal leg angles might not work.

Machines and tools for transportation

Place support brackets and equipment bases where uneven loads need to be strengthened along one axis.

Carbon Steel Unequal Angle Bar Value-Added Processing Services

Besides the standard supply of bars, the following processing options are available:

  • Fixed-length cutting means that bars are cut to the length you specify, which saves time and money on the job site.
  • As shown on the drawing, bolt holes have already been drilled.
  • Anti-rust primer painting is a layer that is put on the hot-rolled surface before it is shipped to protect it during shipping and storage.

Through OEM and ODM agreements, products can be changed to fit the standards of a certain national market or project drawings. Get in touch with us to talk about your surface or measurement needs.

Quality Control & Documentation

Quality checking is done in an organised way that is in line with EN 10204-3.1:

  • Dimensional accuracy—the length, thickness, and squareness of the legs are checked against the tolerance requirements.
  • Tensile strength and yield strength are tested on each batch, and Charpy V-Notch impact testing is available for use in cold climates.
  • Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) tests show that the amount of carbon and alloys in the sample matches the MTC that was declared.
  • Visual and ultrasound checks of the surface find pitting, cracks, or nonmetallic inclusions.
  • Inspection by a third party—available upon request for an extra fee

There is a Mill Test Certificate for each shipment that can be linked to the specific heat number and mechanical test batch.

Packaging & Export

Before they are shipped, the goods, Carbon Steel Unequal Angle Bar, are wrapped in steel straps and marked with an anti-rust treatment. Logistics and goods forwarding businesses have long-term partnerships with Tianjin Youcheng Technology. This helps with the efficient loading of containers and export paperwork for markets such as Kuwait, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Kenya, Belgium, and others.

FAQ

Q: What is a bar with an uneven curve used for?

A: When an asymmetric cross-section better fits the load path of the structure, our product is used for things like steel support frames, communication tower bracing, bridge cross-members, ship hull ribs, and mechanical equipment brackets.

Q: What is the difference between equal and unequal angle?

A: When two legs are equal, they are all the same width. There are two different leg lengths for an unequal angle. When the design of the structure calls for a bigger section modulus in one direction, unequal angles are used. This lets the profile fit the load direction more closely.

Q: Can you cut things and paint them to prevent rust?

A: Yes. You can get a fixed-length cut, and you can have an anti-rust primer painted on before shipping. You can also ask for drilling services.

Q: What grades are out there?

A: The usual grades are Q235B and Q355B. Q235B is good for general structural work, while Q355B is better for medium- to heavy-load situations that need a yield strength of 355 MPa or more.

Q: How can I tell if the steel is good?

A: Ask for a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) that is in line with EN 10204-3.1. The heat number on the certificate should match the number on the bar. This helps connect the material to its chemical and mechanical test results.

Q: Is it possible for a third party to inspect?

A: Yes. Every order comes with standard NDT. For an extra fee, a third-party review by a separate group can be set up before shipment.

Q: How long does it take to make something?

A: Standard production lead time is 7–10 days for sizes that aren't in stock right now. Give us your size and number and we'll let you know if it's available and when it can be delivered.
