Product Description

201 Stainless Steel Pipe for Decoration & Structure — Cost-Effective Austenitic Solution

Tianjin Youcheng Technology Co., Ltd. supplies 201 Stainless Steel Pipe. It gives buyers a cheaper option than 304-grade stainless. More than ten years of steel stocking and export work sit behind the business. Ready stock runs to about 2000 tons, and normal production takes 7–10 days. Kuwait and Russia are markets we serve, and so are Brazil, Kenya and Belgium. Other countries order from us as well. Pipe is made to ASTM A249, ASTM A554, ASTM A312, and GB/T 12771. A Mill Test Certificate under EN 10204 3.1 goes out with each batch. OEM and ODM orders are welcome.

201 Stainless Steel Pipe

What Is 201 Stainless Steel Pipe?

This product is an austenitic alloy of chromium, nickel and manganese. Another name for it is 12Cr17Mn6Ni5N, or UNS S20100. The grade came about to cut down on nickel. Nickel usually lands between 3.5%–5.5% Ni. Manganese (5.5%–7.5% Mn) and nitrogen take its place, and that keeps the austenitic structure intact.

That swap is why 201 costs less than 304 or 316, both of which carry more nickel. More manganese pushes yield strength up to ≥260 MPa. Tensile strength reaches ≥515 MPa. Both figures sit above the standard mechanical limits for 304.

The density sits at 7.86 g/cm³. Chromium takes up 16%–18% of the alloy. Those two things form a protective oxide layer. In dry air, and in spots with low pollution, that layer holds up.

Key Product Advantages

Low Cost, and the Structure Still Holds Up

Less nickel in the mix brings the material cost down. Structural performance stays where it was. Yield strength also beats standard 304 grade. So for big decorative or structural jobs, this is a workable pick, since both budget and load needs come into play.

Multiple Surface Finish Options

Surface treatments include 2B, BA, No.1, Polished, and Mirror Polish. Each finish serves a different application — from brushed industrial frames to high-gloss architectural installations.

Flexible Dimensions and Processing

Outer diameters run from 6 mm to 1200 mm. Wall thickness goes from 0.3 mm to 20 mm. Custom cutting is available. Beveling and threading can be done too, based on the drawings you submit.

Full Documentation Per Batch

Every order ships with a Mill Test Certificate. It follows EN 10204 3.1. Chemical composition is listed on the certificate. Mechanical test results are on there too. The same document covers dimensional verification. That way, procurement records stay traceable.

Quality Control Process

Every batch goes through a structured inspection before it ships.

Material Verification: Positive Material Identification (PMI) runs on an XRF or OES spectrometer. Manganese and nickel levels get checked against ASTM limits. Grade mixing never gets the chance to start.

Weld Integrity Testing: Eddy current testing (ECT) or ultrasonic testing finds internal flaws in the weld along the pipe seam. Ductility, plus how the weld joint behaves under mechanical load, gets checked with flattening and flaring tests.

Surface Inspection: Surface roughness (Ra) gets measured, and grit consistency is confirmed. Grit comes in 180#, 400#, or 600#, and a mirror polish is another option. This meets the finish requirements of the project.

Corrosion Resistance Check: A few batches go through salt spray testing. The method used is ASTM B117. What we want to see is how the metal copes with corrosion in the air. Conditions stay controlled the whole time.

Application Scenarios for 201 Stainless Steel Pipe

Architectural and Decorative Projects

Indoor handrails are one of the most common jobs for 201 Stainless Steel Pipe. Balustrades turn up often as well. The same is true of furniture frames and decorative panels. A mirror or polished finish holds a steady look. It gets close to what higher-grade alloys give you. This grade suits indoor work and dry settings well.

Transit and Infrastructure

Subway grab bars, bus interior frames, and public facility railings are typical structural applications. The pipe's tensile strength and wear resistance make it a reasonable choice for high-traffic interior installations.

Industrial Equipment Frameworks

Commercial kitchen appliance frames are a common application. Non-corrosive exhaust ducting is another. So are supports for light industrial equipment. Where the air is not very acidic or salty, 201 grade keeps its structural stability. It also costs less per unit than 300-series options.

Important note: Do not use this grade near the coast. Skip it in industrial zones where chloride levels run high. Liquid applications that touch food are out too. For any of those jobs, 304 or 316 is the right pick.

Packaging and Shipping

Pipes travel in woven bags or wooden cases. Wooden pallets are another option. All three keep the surface from getting scratched on the way. That matters most when the finish is polished or mirrored.

We hold roughly 200 tons in stock for 201 Stainless Steel Pipe and work with freight forwarding partners we already know. Standard orders ship within 7–10 days. Past exports have gone to Europe, South America, the Middle East, and Africa.

FAQ

Q: Is this product magnetic?

A: In the annealed state, the material shows no magnetism. Cold-forming can change that. Bending and welding do the same. Around those spots you may get a small amount of magnetism, and work-hardening of the microstructure causes it. Every material acts this way. It does not mean the pipe is faulty.

Q: Is it okay to use this product outside?

A: Outdoors it can work, as long as the spot stays dry and pollution is low. Think of railings on city buildings. Coastal air is a different matter, and so are heavy industry zones. There, 304 or 316 grade fights pitting much better.

Q: How do I tell 201 apart from 304?

A: Look at them and you cannot see any difference. Telling them apart takes a real test. That means either a chemical droplet test with a manganese reagent, or PMI analysis of nickel levels. A nickel reading of 3.5%–5.5% points to 201 grade.

Q: Does this product rust?

A: Its corrosion resistance is lower than 304. Surface rust can appear once the chromium oxide layer gets damaged. Pipes sitting in areas full of chloride face the same problem. Fit them correctly in the right setting and that risk goes down.

Q: Which welding method would you recommend?

A: Use TIG (GTAW) or MIG welding. For austenitic stainless steel in this composition range, 308L filler wire is the common pick. It keeps the weld joint compatible and durable.

Q: What kind of custom processing can you do?

A: Fixed-length cutting is one option. Bevel ends and threaded ends are also possible. So are specific surface finishes. OEM and ODM orders are accepted too, and we process them per the drawings or project specifications you submit.
